The number of fines issued to parents taking their children on holiday during school term-time has soared by more than 70%.

Nearly 5,300 penalties were handed to families by 34 councils across England during last year’s autumn term, according to new research by the BBC.

It marks a 74% increase from the autumn term in 2012, indicating more parents are willing to face a fine in order to save cash when booking a family holiday....

People using company cars are the biggest danger on UK roads - even more so than drunk drivers - according to a new road safety campaign.

Road Safety GB North East claims that 21% of all accidents in the region involve one or more company cars, compared to only 5% driven by those under the influence of alcohol.

The figures come at the launch of the groups ‘driving down your risk’ campaign to raise awareness among drivers and businesses....

The classic white van man has been hailed as the most aggravating driver on Britain’s roads, with almost half of those asked naming them as their biggest bugbear.

The number of Brits planning to take their car abroad over the next 12 months has increased by 33% compared to just three years ago.

According to new research, around 8.5 million Brits plan to drive abroad this year, representing 23% of all UK drivers.  

Many of these drivers could be inadvertently breaking the law, if they don’t know the rules of the road in the country they are driving in. Motorists should be aware that different countries have different requirements in terms of what should be carried in the car. In addition to this, tourists should learn some common road signs, and some simple phrases in case of danger....
