Being able to pet, stroke and snuggle with your cat is most people’s idea of heaven.  But now pet-owners are being warned that cuddling your feline friend can actually cause them a great deal of stress.

 

Research by leading cat charity Cat Protection has revealed that more than half of owners do not know how to deal with an anxious moggy and think that showering them with even more affection is the answer....

A petition asking for dog-friendly carriages to be added to Eurostar was launched at the end of June.

Pets in Pyjamas, a website for pet gifts, hopes to get 100,000 signatures from members of the animal-loving public by September 30 and the issue discussed in the House of Commons.

The petition is found on the Government’s e-petition website and asks for dogs to be allowed to travel on the Eurostar in a designated carriage....

Pet owners still face challenges when looking for rental properties but the Association of Residential Letting Agents says that they can in face make better tenants.

“Finding the right rental accommodation can take time, especially if you own a pet,” admits Susan Fitz-Gibbon, President of ARLA. “Some landlords believe pets cause damage to their property and furnishings. However, often the reality is that pets are no trouble and are in fact, a signal that the tenants are committed to making the property a home. Turning down tenants with pets may mean that landlords are not only forgoing good tenants, but losing out on longer lets.”...

According to new research by Holiday Cottages (www.holidaycottages.co.uk), 90% of dog owners would consider changing their travel plans to accommodate their pet, and 72% said they consider their dogs as family members when booking a holiday.

A quarter of those surveyed said they would pay the same amount to take their dog on holiday as they would to take another adult....
