Winter is well and truly upon us with temperature plummeting below 0°C across much of the country in recent days.
For those on a budget, most particularly students, we’ve put together some of our top tips on how to stay warm this Christmas!
- Make the most of the kitchen
The kitchen is likely to be one of the warmest rooms in the house, particularly when people are cooking. A simple hack to keeping the heat for longer would be to leave the oven door open after cooking to spread the heat around.
- Drink and eat hot food!
Following on from the previous tip, eat as much hot food as possible including soups. A hearty meal will not only fill you up but also make you feel warm. Winter is also a perfect excuse to drink as much hot chocolate as you want!
- Get a hot water bottle
You can keep your heating bills low by using a hot water bottle. You can pick these up for quite cheap so invest in a few and you can keep one in your bed and one on the sofa!
- Spend more time in the library
Spending time in the library is a great way to stay focused and keep on track with your studies, all while in a quiet and cosy setting.
- Do some exercise!
You don’t need to pay to join a fancy gym, a quick search on Google or YouTube will reveal many simple exercises. Not only will you feel warm, but you may feel healthier and less guilty for all the indulgence over the Christmas period!
- Buy a onesie
A onesie is literally a huge blanket that you wear and is the perfect item of clothing to wrap up in on a cold night!
