Your Travel Insurance questions answered

Are you able to offer insurance for trips?

Yes we can insure trips within the UK for a minimum of 2 nights with accommodation booked in advance. By UK we mean strictly England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Back to Questions

What happens if I lose my insurance documents? Is there any way to get copies?

Yes, you can call us on 0333 577 6500 or send us an email on info@discountinsurance.co.uk and we will be happy to re-send your documents via email or by post whichever you prefer.

What happens if someone steals my passport or I lose it abroad?

You should immediately go to the nearest police station in the country you are visiting and report the loss or theft of the passport as a crime reference number will be needed when filling in your passport replacement form. You should also report the incident to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth office (FCO), embassy, consulate or high commission of the country you are in. If you are not sure where the nearest FCO office is you can call +44 (0)20 7008 1500 (or 0870 606 0290 within the UK) or check online on FCO website. They will be able to help you and issue you with travel documents enabling you to come back to the UK.

Back to Questions

How long will I have to wait for my policy documents to be sent to me by post?

We put your documents in the post within 24 hours of receiving the quote so please allow between 2 to 3 days for the documents to arrive to your home address as that's our standard time.

Back to Questions

What documents shall I take on holiday?

It's always good to have all documents so whenever you need you can refer to your insurance certificate or policy wording. The insurance certificate is obviously the most important document to have when travelling. If your insurance documents haven't arrived before you leave you can print them out from your email or just simply write down you policy reference number and our claims phone number. In the event of accident, illness or injury you will need these to make a claim.

Back to Questions

Is there any limit to how many times I can go away throughout the year under your Annual multi Trip policy?

No, there is no limit; you can travel as often as you want. There is however a limit to how long each of your getaways can last and that depends on type of cover you have purchased. See your Policy Wording for full terms of cover.

Back to Questions

If I purchase Annual Multi Trip insurance for my whole family, are we allowed to travel under this insurance separately, at individually convenient times?

Yes, you can travel as a family or independently, however, children under 18 who are travelling alone must be dropped off and picked up by an adult of over 21 years of age, who is happy to take responsibility for them.

Back to Questions

What do I do when my Annual policy is coming to an end?

You don't have to worry, we will send you an invitation to renew your policy approximately one month before your renewal is due. This will give you ample time to read through your documents and contact us with any questions you may have.
